Based on our experience we believe that the following ingredients are essential for the transition of a world-class technology into a successful company:

dedicated supervisory or advisory board;
- a pro-active strategy to defend the technology position by patents
and a further development of the proprietary know how;
- a continuous evaluation of the company's positioning;
- top priority to a long-term sustainable business model.
These ingredients ensure that entrepreneurs and their coentrepreneurial partners are able to build a company that meets all requirements for an enduring growth.
As an investor, TechnoStart selects founders who in their academic life have excelled in their disciplines and fields of work. Usually, they develop their new technologies at the forefront of the state of science and realise the value of an appropriate patent strategy. With our co-entrepreneurial mind-set we assist them in virtually all tasks related to construing a business. Many of the teams we did invest in approached us after having learnt of the style of co-operation TechnoStart maintains from our portfolio companies.
Information sharing is essential for successful joint efforts. Thus, we strive to establish a basic feeling of trust between the founding teams and TechnoStart. This includes, on our part, openness to the highest possible degree, which we, in turn, expect from the teams we are working with. All information is safe with TechnoStart. Of course, we report to our investors on what we do with their money and keep them informed about the economic development of the portfolio companies. However, we never pass on to them any technological information other than by headlines. If one of our investors shows his interest in a specific project, we ask the stated company's management to contact the investor directly for further handling.
Given our pro-active approach, we invest primarily in Germany. Nevertheless, investments in neighbouring Western European countries are also considered, if minimal travel time still allows us to maintain our high level of involvement.
